Bad Religion

Bad Religion is the best punk band of all time. From How Can Hell Be Any Worse? to their upcoming release The Dissent of Man, they have rocked the masses with every album (except maybe No Control) with their fast paced, full-on assault sound that defines punk rock. Today's song is one of my faves and it comes off 2007's New Maps of Hell. Now presenting, "New Dark Ages".

Bad Religion is the epitome of a punk rock supergroup, while also being an essential part of early hardcore. The line-up has had some changes throughout the years, but every original member, save Jay Z, is still a member. Bad Religion is now:

Greg Graffin - Vocals
Brett Gurewitz - Guitar
Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks) - Guitar
Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty) - Guitar
Jay Bentley - Bass
Brooks Wackerman (Suicidal Tendencies) - Drums

This song has the fast, hard drum beats and crazy "oozin ahhs" that we've all come to love from Bad Religion. It has a pessimistic political message and intelligent lyrics (written by Dr. Graffin, PhD) that seem shallower on the surface, but once you listen closely are very thoughtful. Truth is, take any, any punk band ever, and Bad Religion kicks their ass so hard, their organs fall out of their mouth. They truly define punk rock. Hell yeah.

Peace.
